Bill Ellign(ton)? called 'Flight Into Egypt'.
(I am judging by the artist's signature, which is difficult to make
out. Could be Ellingsen? or Ellign?...If anyone has any
information please e-mail me. I would love to know more about
this artist).
Masterfully portrays the Biblical story of the hurried escape of
Joseph, Mary, and infant Jesus from the intended murder of all newborns
mandated by King Herod.
The sketch illustrates the baby Jesus being held by his mother, Mary,
while two angles protect them. Joseph is looking back over his
shoulder with staff in hand next to a mule. The artist has titled
the sketch at the bottom left and signed his name at the bottom
right. The letters A/P are in the center.
