Details

A wonderful and very early organic German hallmarked compote with lovely art nouveau designed patterns and slender pedestal stand.  I believe this to be from the Secessionist period. Nuremberg silver has a rich history of silversmith's dating back centuries, often with detailed craftsmanship. This particular piece features a scalloped edge with pierced rim and engraved detailing around a shallow dish, and a stunning leaf relief base. Beautiful flowing organic design. The piece dates from the late 19th century to the early 20th. Popular decorative centerpieces or to sit on a sideboard. I'm sure this was made for serving nuts, candies, fruits or ornamental items. 800 silver & maker's hallmarks along the bases edge. See last photo.

Approx. measurements: Height 12 inches
           Width 9 inches
Base diameter 6 inches

This has not been cleaned or touched. As found in an early century home. Attractive patina and mild age spots that really add to the charm. If someone wanted more of a luster it could be polish.
