This charming handmade vest was crafted in New Mexico during the mid‑1960s and reflects the expressive artists of the era. The piece features alternating vertical stripes of pink, coral, rose, and slate gray, worked in plush bouclé and novelty yarns that create a richly textured, sculptural surface. The front closes with five translucent triangular buttons, original to the garment, adding a distinctive geometric accent.

Condition: Overall very good vintage condition with vibrant color and sturdy stitching. There is a small hole at the right breast, shown clearly in photos. It is stable, unobtrusive, and typical of age in handmade 1960s knitwear. Because of the textured bouclé yarn, the area is discreet when worn and can be repaired or reinforced if desired. Buttons are secure; trim and yarns show only light handling consistent with careful use. This vest presents beautifully and remains a striking example of mid‑century Southwestern craft. As found in a textile estate with other handmade pieces from New Mexico where the owner lived. She I believe was the artisan. No odors, very fresh.
