Beautiful early piece. Bandboxes were
most popular in the second and third quarters of the 19th
century. Believed to house the collars popular at the time.
This is painted black with Poppy flowers or the popular
Ginkgo leaves on the lid and a round the body. This piece is
in original condition with copper tacks on the band of the
box and square nails on the edge of the bottom board.
Measuring approx. 8 3/4" in diameter and is 4 1/4" tall.
Wonderful patina on this box with slight reptilian paint.
Bright original polychrome interior paint.
This would make an excellent statement piece for storage,
conversation, in your bungalow decor or as a gift for the
collector.
