Exceptional early 20th Century Walker
Bros. oak stacking file cabinet. Purchased from a widow
who inherited the piece from her father-in-laws factory.
Paneled side walls and detailed moldings. Attractive grain
with vibrant rays and flecks in the lumber used to make
the piece. Two sections are a tad lighter than the others
but all same make.
My flash really makes them lighter than they are. They do
not look refinished. This piece has taller feet at the
base than you normally see which makes it a breeze when
reaching the bottom file.
Sporting 8 sections in all. This includes, the base, top
piece and the pull out section. 11 drawers, 1 door and 1
breadboard work station slide out. Brass original
hardware.
Overall measurements are approx. 73.75" tall by 16.5" wide
by 17" deep.
The large drawers measure 14.5” wide by 11 tall. The
three larger drawers measure 14.75" by 4" tall. The
smallest drawers measure 5.75 wide by 4.25" tall. The
insides measure 5" wide.
The two drawers at top measure 10" by 5.5" tall and
the narrow door measures 11" long by 4.25" wide.
Breadboard pull out measures 15" wide.
This is a magnificent piece, rarely due you find this many
sections and so unique. The condition is wonderful. It has
been well taken care of. There are very tiny spots where
it's been nicked (very small) and we can only find two.
There is some very minor scratches that waxing will
diminish completely. The worst of the piece is the back
veneer is missing in two spots. Please not last photo.
The file is similar to a bookcase sectional we just sold
so we know this can also be broken down into separate
components and shipped, which makes it easy for the buyer
in not finding a carrier.
