This is a very large oak antique haberdashery cabinet found in St. Paul, Mn. Perfect retail shop rack, display or personal collector's cabinet dating to the mid 19th century. Showcasing.can be done on each side and both ends with huge viewing capabilities through the heavy original glass. Door glass is missing and can be easily replaced. The door's on this piece open as they would a cupboard. Three large full dimensional shelves.
The cabinet is made in eleven pieces. It breaks down into manageable portions due to the weight and size. Great idea by the manufacturer but we cannot find a mark yet to let us know who the maker was. Remarkable construction with large mortise and tenon joints. and top and bottom of cabinet slide onto wooden dowels. Heavy bolts as can be seen in the photos hold the walls in place. Bottom bolts were missing at some point and carriage bolts were added. The doors do not operate on a typical hinge system, they open and close by utilizing a recessed metal bracket with a hole, top and bottom. Each door has a bracket with a pin that falls into place. All boards are hand planed. Very solid joints and construction
