This is an authentic Stanley No. 46 Skew Combination Plane, manufactured circa 1890–1910 by the Stanley Rule & Level Co., New Britain, Connecticut. Nickel‑plated cast‑iron body with about 75% of it nickeling. Decorative scrollwork and rosewood front knob and rear handle. Long fence with rosewood facing. Two long fence rods, on original depth gauge with the only marking.

Skewed cutter for cross‑grain work, adjustable fence with dual rods, depth stop, and slitter. Only have one cutter. Light surface oxidation consistent with age; fence and adjustment screws move freely; rosewood handles retain rich patina. Designed for plowing, beading, and grooving across the grain. A versatile tool prized by cabinetmakers. The No. 46 is less common than the No. 45 and sought after for its skewed blade design and elegant detailing.
