Set of six patches purchased in an estate. Most are in very good condition, two un-used and one shows some staining.

My research is that the black cat (2 patches), are for the 81st Infantry Division Patch. Believed to be World War I.
Organized in August of 1917 as the Eighty-first Division at Camp Jackson, South Carolina.
The wildcat is common to the Carolins from which many of the personnel of the division came during World War I. (Measurement just under 2.25" diameter)

The Golden or yellow sun on blue background. A World War II US Army 40th Infantry Division border patch.
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 40th Division on 23 Nov 1918.
The design alludes to California where the division had its origin, while the blue field alludes to the sky and the Pacific Ocean.
Campaigns: World War I, World War II, and Korean War. (Measurement 2.5" by 2.")

Drab green and gold double patch on one cloth: U.S. Army Private 1st Class. (Measurement 3.25" by 3")

2 American red, white and blue patches, one flag and one shield, these are as new.
The flag measures approx. 1.5" by 1". White border. The shield is 1.24" by 1". White border. Not sure if these two are old like the others.

The design alludes to California where the division had its origin, while the blue field alludes to the sky and the Pacific Ocean.

This is in nice collection from the estate and would be a great gift for the military buff. I think the stained black cat patch may clean up.
