More Information

This very nice folk art vintage Pitcher is I believe from the Oaxaca region and crafted in nice detail of clay and hand decorated in a floral drip technique in russet, blue and green.

The Pitcher has a formed spout with sawtooth edges. Made in the 1940's and 1950's and perhaps even earlier, this was sold as touristware for vacationers traveling to Mexico and were rarely signed by the artist.
Overall glazed, the piece is marked "Mexico" scratched into the glaze on the underside.

This early piece shows few signs of use - it's in overall very good vintage condition. There are the expected irregularities in the shape, the paint and the glaze which are common to handcrafted pottery pieces of this type.
No chips, cracks or repairs that we can find. Great item for your early folk art Mexican pottery collection.

It measures approximately 4” tall.
