Exceptional and large, this primitive Norwegian folk art pantry storage box is shown with a Viksdal rosemaling in black, cream, yellow and salmon. Wonderful display piece.  The original birch root lacing is all present along with the traditional well defined fingers. Normal shrinkage in areas and there is some small areas of chipped edges. The original wooden pegs used in the joinery are also very defined. The integrity of the piece is solid and secure, very desirable piece.

The surfaces show aged nice patina with some darkening here and there. Note a small darkened spot on lid. Minor usual scratches and abrasions associated with years of use and handling. Overall, this is a wonderful box and larger than usually found. Aesthetically appealing decorative folk art elements whether you love the Scandinavian arts or just enjoy the appeal of great workmanship.
